Katie DaMota, founder of the Nest and local lactation consultant works most days of the week to support local families with infant and toddler feeding challenges. She utilizes evidence-based, current information and over a decade of experience to meet the unique goals of each family.  If she could share one piece of infant feeding advice it would be "take it one feeding at a time, one day at a time. It can be very overwhelming to look at the whole picture. Success is made from taking small steps sometimes."

You can meet with Katie in person at your home, in the hospital or at The Nest. She's also available over video chat or phone if your concern doesn't require a face-to-face visit. If you're looking to work with Katie, her first task will be to understand your feeding goals and together you will set out to craft a suitable plan. She learned early in her career that the plan has to be do-able and agreed to by the family. She also realized that follow up care is essential so that's why you'll find that all of her visits come with 2 weeks of support. "I don't want to wonder how my families are doing. It's important for me to know they are succeeding and feeling confident."

In addition to feeding support, Katie shares early parenting advice for families from birth through the first 3 years during her weekly circles. Join anytime to discuss a variety of aspects of early parenthood. Typical conversations include: mindful mothering, building language, emotional development, support for aggressive behavior, the importance of what we say and how we speak to our children/babies, potty learning and picky eating. The weekly topics are endless and often surprising, just like parenting!

For new parents, she offers a drop-in circle + new baby clinic on Thursdays. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with a lactation consultant for a low fee or to weigh your baby. Sometimes it can take a few weeks or more to find your groove and what better place to seek support but in the company of other new parents?

The Nest continues to sustain in our county thanks to Katie's perseverance and dedication to making it happen! In her opinion, "Families everywhere deserve a welcoming, supportive nest as they grow and thrive and I'm hopeful we can continue to hold the space!"
