Chelsea Bryan has been “Grass Valley Doula” for the past six years. She has helped hundreds of families prepare for childbirth with her warmth and wisdom with her original classes, “Embracing Birth” and “Ready, Steady, Birth”. As a birth doula and midwifery student (California midwifery license coming in late spring 2019), Chelsea attends 3-6 births a month. She is proud to announce another signature class experience, “Embracing Pregnancy”.

Embracing Pregnancy is an ongoing, drop in group on Thursday nights, 6:00-7:00, at the NEST. The idea was born out the feedback in her classes that families feel a gap in their prenatal care and crave the community of other pregnant folks. They want to ask more questions, explore their options and dive deeper into the prenatal experience. Embracing Pregnancy seeks to offer a casual group environment to get practical and holistic support to enhance (not replace) prenatal care with doctor or midwife. Chelsea encourages pregnant folks to share their joys and challenges of this pregnancy, what is working for them, give referrals, self care ideas and offer up her teaching nuggets, stories, resources and exercises. It is a great group to join in at any point in pregnancy, especially in the first and second trimester.

Chelsea is unusual in the childbirth teaching field because of her extensive and current birth experience in hospitals, homes and birth centers. Her midwifery studies have taken her to a homebirth practice in Vermont, birth centers in Utah, Amish farmhouses in Lancaster, PA as well as working with several local licensed midwives. As a doula, Chelsea has attended dozens of births at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital as well as other hospitals “down the hill”.  She takes her direct experience back to the classroom to help new families prepare for their birth day and the early postpartum.

If you have questions about doula services, birth classes or the Embracing Pregnancy group, you can reach out to Chelsea at (530)-277-1895 or visit her website www.grassvalleydoula.com. She would love to chat with you.

Embracing Pregnancy is a free group for NEST members or a $10 drop in per class. First timers are always free!
