Easter is right around the corner and while your little one might have no idea about the bunny yet, it's still fun to put together a small basket in those first years. You might be thinking 'Easter baskets are full of candy, no?' The good news is, you get to create your own holiday traditions and starting off with wholesome baskets is certainly an option. We've put together a list of ideas for you to try plus some tips for egg dying with young ones, enjoy!

MUSIC! Music is always a win! Consider egg shakers like these bright colored gems which can be found at our local music stores or online. Other ideas: another kind of maraca, a tiny drum or wooden 'clackers'. There are loads of amazing options for babes to make music these days. And to make you feel good, learning music is a great step toward language development. Win-win!

NESTING BOWLS & SILKS Our neighbors, Kiya's Naturals (within Make Local Habit), has a beautiful array of wooden stacking and nesting toys that will delight the youngest (and even olders). Check out her enchanting silks as well. Those would make a delightful addition to any sweet basket.

Easter Egg Dying  can totally wait until they're older but if you've been looking forward to starting this tradition, here are a few tips to try:
  • Use stickers! Let them put stickers on the dry, white egg, dip them into your dye and then peel them off to reveal a resist or shape left behind. Alternatively, they can also put stickers on after they're dyed simply as decoration.
  • A whisk to save the day! This mama has some tips for dying eggs with toddlers that seem simple and easy including putting the egg into a whisk while they dip!
  • Natural Dyes are sometimes a preference for parents. Here's a helpful guide for using veggies and such.
  • Dying for more? This mama's roundup should keep you busy!
We hope these ideas will inspire you to hop off to a healthy, happy holiday! Enjoy your sweet littles as they experience the magic of Easter.

Join us on Thursdays at 10:30 for our Toddler Play Group to learn more ideas on toddler play, mindful parenting and building community!
